For this project, I worked with Abbi Grayce Farthing to design and paint a mural for Byers & Harvey Real Estate & Management’s training room. Inspired by the company’s “Since 1878” history, we filled the mural with illustrations of Clarksville’s landmarks, culture, and places that make the city feel like home.

Through the process of creating the design, illustration and typography played a big part in finding ways to honor the city of Clarksville. We wanted each part of the city to complement the others while still having its own voice and standing out within the mural.

We gave each number its own theme, using the space to highlight different parts of Clarksville, from its history and local attractions to its downtown, Fort Campbell, and Austin Peay State University.

The typography helped give each section its own personality. We chose lettering styles that fit the phrases and themes they represented, while keeping the illustration style consistent.
